The STAR CARD launches with the aim of rewarding the employees and supporting the local businesses that are both vital to keep South Bank thriving.
South Bank BID and We Are Waterloo have teamed up to bring significant discounts on food and drink, shopping, health and wellbeing and attractions for every worker, student and local resident around the station and on the river.
The members of the two business improvement districts say they are keen to recognise their valued employees and South Bank BID is working to identify the potential benefits of the Living Wage in attracting motivated and skilled employees. The project acknowledges the barriers employers may face to pay the voluntary Living Wage and is exploring those.
Meanwhile, a number of businesses vital to the vibrancy of our neighbourhood are facing steep increases in business rates from this month, at a time that consumers’ disposable incomes are under pressure.
The STAR CARD is an answer to both issues, according to a South Bank BID spokesperson. “The loyalty card will help with retaining and attracting the staff who are vital to maintaining our success by providing them with additional, significant benefits,” said Claudio Giambrone, head of marketing.
“Employees will enjoy significant savings on everything from a delicious Gourmet Pizza and after-work drinks on the river at Mondrian London to a film at the BFI or a session at a Park Plaza spa. At the same time, it will encourage more people to discover everything South Bank has to offer with accessible prices, in a boost for our visitor economy.”
Employees working anywhere in the South Bank BID and We Are Waterloo areas will benefit - stretching from Lambeth Palace and South Bank University in the south to OXO Tower and National Theatre in the north.
